Traditional Hoopers
Hoopers is a modern canine sport where dogs navigate through a course of hoops and other low-impact obstacles. Unlike traditional agility, Hoopers eliminates jumping elements, making it especially suitable for puppies, senior dogs, and those with mobility restrictions. Handlers direct their dogs through specific patterns of ground-level hoops, tunnels, and barrels using distance handling techniques and verbal/physical cues. This accessible sport emphasizes teamwork, mental stimulation, and gentle exercise while reducing physical strain on dogs. Hoopers classes focus on building directional skills, confidence in a fun, low-stress environment.
We combined water to the sport to create our Water Hoopers class!

Water Hoopers is a water canine sport where dogs navigate through a course of hoops and other obstacles set up in a pool. This water-based version combines the principles of Hoopers with aquatic exercise, making it especially beneficial for dogs needing joint-friendly activities but is also appropriate and fun for any dogs. In this unique class, dogs swim through partially submerged hoops and around water obstacles, following the handlers’ cues. The water environment provides natural resistance that builds muscle strength while reducing impact, making it ideal for dogs of all ages and fitness levels. This refreshing water sport emphasizes confidence-building while offering cooling exercise during warm weather. Pool-based Hoopers classes create a fun, low-stress environment where dogs can develop swimming skills and directional control simultaneously.
